Creative Stories Workshops

Do you have a story that has been swirling inside your head for a while?

This is your call to adventure!

Explore your imagination as we embark on a journey of discovery and creativity.

Join author & illustrator, Randy Whiteside for a awe-inspiring workshop using a proven story blueprint based on the Hero’s Journey. Learn how to how to create interesting characters, build fascinating worlds & craft fantastical short stories that wow story-goers and audiences from around the world.

There are 2 separate workshops. Each follows a slightly different lesson plan based on age. Both workshops consist of 4 Zoom sessions:

  • Creative Stories Workshop for Kids (Ages 12 – 17)
  • Creative Stories Workshop for Adults (Ages 18+)

 

Story Room

In each Workshop, you’ll learn how to:

 

  • Develop your Main Character with fascinating attributes, goals, aspirations, and fears.
  • Become a World-builder by crafting your own unique world that your characters will live in.
  • Using a story structure blueprint you will take your Main Character on the adventure of their lifetime!
  • Develop a character arc that develops your Main Character from newbie to hero through the course of your story.
  • By the end of the 4 sessions, you will have a complete short story that you can share with family & friends, and could possibly be the first step toward your published book or screenplay!

Workshop Format:

  • All workshops are virtual via Zoom
  • 4 Zoom sessions, 1 hour each
  • Each workshop is limited to 10 students

Your Instructor: Randy Whiteside

  • Author of How to Write a Short Story: 7 Step Framework + Workbook, Travis & The Courageous Path, and Milo & The Foggy Mountain
  • Wrote first children’s book at the age of 12
  • Career has blended the creativity with the logical
  • BS Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University
  • MBA in International Business from Arizona State University
  • Software Consulting career in eProcurement Software

Class Requirements:

  1. Physical Notepad
  2. Pen or Pencil
  3. A device that:
      • Connects to the internet/Zoom
      • Ability to interact with the Instructor (visual and audio)
      • Laptop is preferred, however tablet or smartphone are okay

You retain full ownership of all the work you create in this workshop.
