About Creative Stories Workshop
Creative Stories Workshop is a Virtual Class series designed to help students learn the basics of storytelling. Starting from a proven story structure template, students are brought through the process of developing their main character, and building a world for the charters to live in along with allies and enemies. From this world, the student’s imagination is free to send their main character on an epic quest or simply overcome some obstacles & challenges. Either way, their main character learns a thing of two, and a new story is born.
All Creative Stories Workshop classes are virtual and have small class sizes to allow for maximum creativity.
About the Founder & Instructor
Randy Whiteside is an author & illustrator of multiple books and started Creative Stories Workshop as a way to help others learn and apply the art of storytelling.
His passion for helping others learn new concepts spans all areas of his life. Randy is a true believer that combining logic & creativity is the key to solving even the most complex of challenges. His enthusiasm for bringing new ideas & stories to life has been his leading inspiration since he wrote his first book in his 6th grade English class.
Randy graduated from Penn State as a Mechanical Engineer and obtained an MBA from Arizona State with a concentration in International Business. Randy’s corporate career includes doing technology consulting for Global 500 companies and leading complex software implementations for over 20 years.
In his corporate career, Randy enjoys teaching and leading workshops on software systems, so this has translated well to leading workshops on creative storytelling.
While in college, he spent 2 summers interning at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. During his time there, he had the opportunity to learn first hand about synergizing first-in-class customer service with storytelling and business.
In addition to writing & illustrating, Randy also has a passion for travel, nature and photography. He has currently visited 45 states with a goal of visiting all 50.
Randy currently resides in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania.
